26/07/18 - After an initial meeting on 30 May 2018, a follow up meeting was held today at which the owner’s representatives outlined the proposals for the renovation of Redhall House and the enabling project to the community representatives, (residents and community councillors). Plans were presented for the enabling project which consisted of two large detached houses to the left (south) of the main house on the rear of the lawn. The owners’ representatives outlined the proposals for the development as follows:

  • Renovation of the main house into 6 flats
  • An enabling project consisting of 2 large detached houses to the left of the main house on the rear of the lawn.
  • One planning application covering the enabling project and renovation of the main house.
  • The building work for the enabling project and the renovation to be simultaneous.
  • The full financial justification for enabling project would be made available to community council, before the planning application is made.
  • Landscaping proposals for the grounds would be discussed with community council and the residents.
  • The remainder of lawn would be transferred into the ownership of 2 detached houses and 6 Redhall House flats.
  • The tidying of the grounds would continue using in-house staff.

While the community representatives would prefer not to have an enabling project, they expressed their tentative support for the above proposals.  Concerns were raised regarding further building on the lawn. The project manager agreed to investigate wording in the Title Deeds forbidding any further development of the lawn. Ian Leitch suggested that the wording include a requirement to obtain consent from all Avenue and Drive residents that would in effect contain the power of veto.
Peter Mavor stated that any final decision on whether to support or object to the proposals would be made by the wider community and Redhall House estate residents at a public community council meeting.
The project manager indicated that the plans were to be discussed with CEC Planning Department in the near future. He would get back to Peter Mavor when the final plans were ready for submission and the landscaping proposals were produced.

03/08/16 - the CEC planning committee today REFUSED the planning application to build 8 mews homes next to Redhall House ie planning application has been rejected. The ball is now back in the owners’ court. They have the right to appeal to the Scottish Government or to come back with other ideas. The CEC will now have to look further at the means for forcing the owners to restore Redhall House, which is what everyone wants. This was an important step in rejecting a development which was wrong in design, scale and impact. What Councillor Gavin Corbett said at the hearing
