Westside Motors - 16/06275/FUL replaced Aug 2019 by 19/03380/FUL

This site is in the Longstone Community Council area but it is included for information as it is so close to the boundary with us.

20/02/2020 - The Planning Application to develop 134 student flats at Westside Motors has been approved.

23/01/2020 - CEC Planners are,”aiming to get the application to the Development Management Sub Committee in February but there is no date programmed at this time.”

20/08/2019 - New application 19/03380/FUL. Although the previous application was approved, no development has taken place. We have written to object to this new application based on previous comments from residents which are still or even more relevant to the new proposal.

02/08/2018 - The Planning Application for student flats was this morning approved by the Development Sub-Committee by a vote of 9 for and 2 against. Conditions included the colour of brick will be approved by the CEC Planning dept and a flood resistant design / materials to be used on the bike shed that is under threat of flooding. he dissenting votes (we think from the Green Party) were unhappy with the nibbling away at the green belt, however it was disregarded as being only for a very small area. The fact that there were only 5 car parking spaces was rather disappointingly played down in the belief that public transport and bicycles will be used by students.

29/06/2018 - our latest information indicates that this will go to the Development Management Subcommittee on 1st August for final approval as proposed by CEC Planning department.

10/06/2018 - At the commencement of CEC Development Management Committee Meeting on 6th June, CEC planners asked that the proposal for the student flats be put back to a future meeting as they had further questions to ask regarding daylight provisions. This is expected to be only a temporary delay.

05/03/18 - SEPA have been interacting with the developer over environmental issues.

10/10/2017 - Our response to latest alterations to application

04/04/2017 - reply we received from CEC Planning Dept when we requested an update on this application - "Can advise that at present the application still remains under consideration and there are a number of issues with the proposal which will have to be addressed in further detail before a determination can be made as to its acceptability. Please note that the decision level for the application which is shown on the planning portal is an estimated decision level which is assigned to every application on receipt. The number of objections which have been submitted in respect of this application is such that in the event that the planning authority recommends that planning permission is to be granted for the scheme, it will have to be referred to the Development Management Sub-Committee. At present, I cannot give an indication as to whether we will recommend that consent is granted for the proposal or what date it will be progressed to Committee"
